Learning for Life at our Nursery
Teaching & Practice
Our flexible and innovative approaches to teaching and learning ensure children become confident, rounded individuals who are eager and capable learners.
There is no doubt that children benefit enormously from shared social experiences, and the progress of each pupil in this and all other areas is monitored closely. This enables us to keep parents fully informed and to plan carefully for the future.
Nursery practitioners engage fully with children to both support and encourage them. Skilful questioning leads the learning and by being enthusiastic and encouraging, key workers are active partners in children's learning. Our Early Years Teachers support the team in delivering our curriculum.
All children develop a Learning Journey throughout their time in nursery. These record children's learning and progress and include photographs, pieces of work and annotated planning and record sheets. We share these records with parents who are requested to contribute to support children's learning.
e-Quality Counts
e-Quality Counts is a national scheme delivered by the National Day Nurseries Association and is designed to help assess all aspects of a settings Early Years Care and Education to ensure that it is delivering the best possible service for young children.
Our report concluded that Ashbridge not only "Meets the standards required but exceeds them in all areas."
This is reflected in the level 3 outcome which is the highest level awarded as part of the Quality Assurance Scheme.
Purnima Tanuku, Chief Executive of National Day Nurseries Association has congratulated Ashbridge and said "Achieving 'e-Quality Counts' involves a great deal of hard work and development which illustrates their absolute commitment to children. Ashbridge should be very proud of this achievement as the e-Quality Counts scheme demonstrates that children are at the heart of what they do.”
Moving on to School
Ashbridge School has long been established as the area’s premier provider of high quality Primary Education.
We offer parents the peace of mind which comes from a focus on the individual needs of each child along with high expectations for academic success. Children who attend an Ashbridge Nursery have benefitted from experiencing the essential preparation for the next step in their educational journey. In making this choice families have invested considerably and the opportunity of a place within the school, enables a child to build on this invaluable head-start.
We understand that words alone can only play a small part when making the next vital decision, so please come along and meet the Headteacher and our first- class teaching team and take a look round. We look forward to welcoming you and promise you will be enormously impressed.
To arrange a visit to the Ashbridge Nursery and/or Ashbridge School to meet the team, see our extensive facilities and discuss your own child’s requirements please get in touch.
Here at Ashbridge we fully embrace the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), whilst also enjoying the freedom to implement fresh and creative approaches which are foundations for future learning.
The Early Years Foundation Stage covers all children from birth to the end of Reception Class. This is a vital stage of a child’s education, and the government guidelines are fully implemented here at Ashbridge.
The principles of the EYFS are to ensure all children have access to a curriculum that promotes learning in all areas of development.
Standards & Achievements
Our standards in all areas of our nursery provision are excellent and this is the basis for success. We are committed to providing the very best for children and welcome scrutiny of our standards from our customers, the children and outside agencies.
Through statutory inspections by ISI, the Independent School Inspectorate, Environmental Health and the quality assurance award Quality Counts, we know that the high standards we set for ourselves ensure children achieve well and enjoy a first class experience in the Early Years.
The nursery is inspected by ISI as part of the overall school inspection and at our most recent inspection and in June 2013 we were judged to be 'outstanding' in all aspects of the early years. Please see the full report in the ‘About Us’ section of the website.
Along with all other views however, it is the positive feedback we receive daily from our parents which is so important to us and this clearly demonstrates that our high standards not only meet the needs of families but also add significant value to all that we offer children in our nursery department.
Keeping In Touch
Effective communication between your home and your children's nursery is essential and we have many systems in place to support this.
Excellent, mutually-supportive relationships between parents and staff ensure that the children are the focus of everything we do and parents are welcomed into nursery and have daily contact with their child's 'key person' at the start and end of each day.
Opportunities and systems for regularly sharing information and communication are well established by both informal and more structured meetings, held regularly with written summaries of progress and achievements being completed in the pre-school year.
Social events are organised by Ashbridge Families; parents who come together to provide opportunities for family events throughout the year.
Weekly newsletters keep everyone informed about Nursery and School life detailing special events and forthcoming activities where we celebrate the children's achievements and the daily life of our busy and exciting setting.
