Our Baby Unit
At Ashbridge Nursery School in Hutton, Preston our baby unit department has been developed to the most rigorous standards, ensuring that parents can leave their child in the safest of hands.
Facilities for our youngest babies are designed specifically to meet their needs. Within the baby unit, separate areas are dedicated for children under 12 months and care is taken to ensure a warm and homely feel is created to help children settle successfully.
A key person system operates throughout the nursery, which we see as crucial for the development of our relationship with the children and their families.
Pre-School
When the children reach the all-important pre-school year they move up to our pre-school and Infant building, where they enjoy extensive facilities designed to support their growing independence.
Large indoor and outdoor areas are equipped with everything children need to extend their learning. Resources are made accessible in order that children can make their own choices and the displays and creative areas are developed to enhance children's interests.
Children have continuous access to the outdoors and use the play areas, garden and woodland spaces enthusiastically every day they are with us.
Our Nursery School Environment
Life at Ashbridge is full and varied and our setting lends itself to outdoor activities of all kinds. Everyone can be involved! We promise our children an education that is healthy and closely attuned to the environment.
The fact that we are located in the countryside is of crucial importance. It enables children to learn from and enjoy nature to the full, working and playing throughout the year in an invigorating, rural setting. Ashbridge Nursery in Hutton, Preston has adopted an environmentally friendly approach aimed at fostering a love of the natural world.
The youngest children go for regular walks around the grounds visiting our animals which include donkeys, sheep, goats and chickens. Older children help to care for the rabbits and guinea pigs, learning important values of care and responsibility.
An extensive range of clubs are available for children to enjoy in Nursery. Each is taught by a qualified teacher or instructor and most lessons take place weekly. We currently offer a variety of dance, languages and sports clubs and classes.
2 to 3 Years Old
When children move on from the baby unit they move into a newly purpose built area within our nursery for 2-3 year olds, where they are accomodated in welcoming and bright classrooms, all with direct access to the outdoor areas.
Rooms are spacious and light with integral areas for changing and toileting and resources are in place to meet all areas of learning from role play areas to creative spaces.
Displays of children's work enhance and personalise the spaces to create a sense of belonging.
